People who have not yet had their first or second Covid vaccination – or who are eligible for the booster – can attend clinics at venues across South Tyneside this week.
To book an appointment at a local vaccine centre (The Glen, Cleadon Park or Flagg Court) at a specific time, or if you have questions about the vaccine, please call the South Tyneside Vaccination Contact Centre on 0191 283 1925 or speak with your GP practice.
Alternatively, you may prefer to attend a large centre such as the Centre for Life or the Nightingale Hospital (near Sunderland). To book an appointment, call 119 between 7am and 11pm or visit the national NHS website.
Details of groups eligible for booster jabs are listed further down the page. If you are in one of the eligible groups, you can only have the booster dose if it’s been at least 180 days since your second dose.

The Pfizer vaccine is now available to anyone aged 16 and over (it was previously for ages 18-39 only). There are no age restrictions on the Moderna vaccine. To have a second dose, you must have had your first vaccine at least eight weeks before.

Who is eligible for the COVID-19 booster vaccine?
The following people should be offered a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the same order as the first part of the vaccination programme.
- those living in residential care homes for older adults
- all adults aged 50 years or over
- frontline health and social care workers
- all those aged 16 to 49 years with underlying health conditions that put them at higher risk of severe COVID-19 (as set out in the green book), and adult carers
- adult household contacts of immunosuppressed individuals
The JCVI advises that the booster vaccine dose should be offered no earlier than six months after completion of the first course of vaccination.
